Texas holds a special place in our hearts because our founder, Kylie, is from there. Although she now resides in New York, Texas remains close to her heart. That's why we've asked one of our interns from Austin to create this amazing guide to all the must-try and must-do things in the city! If you are looking for a fun party vibe perfect for birthdays, bachelorette parties, and drinks with friends, this is your city! 

TOP 5 RESTAURANTS IN AUSTIN

The Guest House 

Perfect for a crowd who is wanting to have a fun dinner! The Guest House has perfected the moody lighting yet exciting music combo. There is a DJ in the restaurant ensuring the music is exactly what you want to hear when you are going to dinner for a good time! To add to the flare, The Guest House has an amazing list of cocktails falling under the umbrellas of “Light & Bright”, “Spirit Forward”, “Bold & Rich”, and my personal favorite “Theatrical”. The food is also amazing with a complimentary starter of croissant-like bread and a menu with great salads, appetizers, entrees, and desserts. I highly recommend the caesar salad and the salmon! 

Eberly 

This spot sits on one of the busiest streets in Austin! It is an amazing spot for an impromptu lunch date! It is large yet quaint and especially PERFECT at night. They have an amazing wine list for you and your date to make a selection from. More importantly, Eberly serves some of the most amazing food in Austin. When you go at night, the dim lighting and soft music makes it a great date spot. For an even more romantic evening, try to get seated in the glass room. 

Dirty Martin's

If you are looking for an Austin staple, the most obvious choice is Matt’s El Rancho. When in a city that embraces and thrives off of Tex-Mex, one of your stops should be here. They offer great food and even better (stronger) margaritas! However, what I would suggest for a quick lunch stop at an Austin staple is Dirty Martin’s! Dirty Martin’s is a bar and grill near campus that has been in Austin for nearly 100 years. Stop by for a quick taste of Austin history, a refreshing beer, and a great burger! 

Anthem

For some light bites and amazing cocktails, try Anthem on Austin’s famous Rainey St.  Anthem’s food takes on a combination of American, Texan, Asian, and Latin. They have a great list of appetizers that you can enjoy with their refreshing cocktails that are served in interesting and unique glasses. 

The County Line on the Hill

Austin is one of the lucky few cities to be known for being a large city while also homing two lakes and being nestled in the Texas Hill Country. So, if you are looking for dinner with a view in Austin, I would recommend The County Line on The Hill. Get some great reasonably priced Texas BBQ and enjoy an amazing view of the hill country on their patio! 

 

TOP 5 THINGS TO DO IN AUSTIN 

For Special Occasions

I think this is the most obvious answer but also the most fun! Austin is lucky to have two lakes where you can charter a boat and bring all of your friends! Whether it’s a birthday party or a bachelor/ette the lake never fails to disappoint! 

Date Night Idea

Looking for something to do that isn't another dinner date? Go to Comedy Mothership to watch some great shows and get a good laugh. Located on E 6th St, you are in a great spot to find a nightcap after the show!

Must See Live Music

Austin, Texas is the Live Music Capital of the world! In a city that has live music playing somewhere, every day, every hour, 24/7 it should be taken advantage of. Visit one of Austin’s staples, the Elephant Room or the Continental Club on South Congress. These spots are a perfect excuse to hop on over to 6th Street or Rainey Street after! 

Connect with Nature

A new fun thing to do is to rent a small retro boat or donut boat on Lady Bird Lake! These boats are perfect for a small group, and you can bring snacks and drinks.  Enjoy floating on the river that runs right through downtown while relaxing and taking in the view of Austin's skyline. Another honorable mention for those wishing to connect with nature is to hike Mt.Bonnell or hike the Greenbelt and if you are doing this is the summer heat, hop in for a refreshing dip in the water! 

Austin has Sports

Austin has a soccer team that we are beyond proud of! If you find yourself in town during the season, make sure to visit Q2 Stadium to watch Austin FC. If you are in town for the fall,  nothing beats a college football game. Watch the Longhorns play a home game at Darrell K Royal Stadium, and go  enjoy a day full of tried and true Texas tailgating!
